☆ Submission Guidelines ☆

Fiction

All fiction stories should be at least 2,000 words, however, please do not go over 10,000 words (a preferable range is 3,000-5,000). If you are participating in our flash fiction category, please do not surpass 1,500 words. Each piece should have a title and should be briefly summarized (2-3sentences) in the submissions document. One person can submit up to 10 fiction works. The Margin Review appreciate works of all genres and are excited to see what you have in store for us!

Poetry

All poems should not exceed 50 lined (however exceptions can be made upon notification). Each piece should have a title. One person can submit up to 15 poems. Much can be done with poetry and we and The Margin Review are excited to read what you submit to us!

Nonfiction/Essays

All nonfiction pieces should be at least 2,000 words but not exceed 10,000 words. The type of piece should be prefaced in the submissions form (ex. whether it is a literary analysis essay or research on a specific topic). Each piece should have a title and should be briefly summarized (2-3sentences) in the submissions document. One person can submit up to 10 nonfiction pieces/essays. There are many intriguing topics to be researched. and analyzed and we here at The Margin Review look forward to reading your submissions!

Formatting

We prefer that your submissions is in the form of a Google Doc, however other forms (ex. pdf files or word docs) will be accepted. Please make sure your submission is in a readable font (preferably 12 pt) and is constant throughout. The title of your submissions document should be [Title of Piece]—[Name], so and example, The Raven—Edgar Allan Poe. Finally, make sure that each submission has its own document.

Content

Sexism, Racism, or any other forms of intolerance will not be tolerated. While it is okay to have characters reveal themselves through these prejudices, do not use your work to spread ignorance or stereotypes.

All work must be 100% original; if any forms of AI or plagiarism is detected, the piece will be disqualified.

Feedback

Feedback on any given piece will not be given innately. However, you can receive feedback if you email us at TheMarginReview@gmail.com asking us to do so prior to your submission.

Notification

Typically you will hear from us 2-3 weeks after all submissions are due. This can vary depending on how many pieces you have submitted.

Due Date

Our current due date for submissions for our first issue is July 15. Any piece submitted after will not be read without an email to TheMarginReview@gmail.com explaining the necessity of an extension. Our first issue is set to be released by September 31st. Changes can occur.
